Convert elbow 45° to 90° (E45to90)
Convert an elbow configuration from 45 to 90 degrees.
1. Purpose
Swaps placed 45-degree elbows to 90-degree elbows without deleting and redrawing them. Use it when bends must go square to fit a tight shaft, or when site stock only carries 90-degree elbows.
2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)

3. Steps
- Open a view where the 45-degree elbows are clearly visible. [image 01: the 45-degree elbows to convert]
- Click E45to90 inside the ElbowConvert split menu in the VP_MEP tab, Plumbing panel.
- Click each elbow to convert in turn (press Esc to finish). [image 02: picking an elbow in the model]
- The tool converts each elbow to 90 degrees in place, keeping both connected runs untouched. [image 03: elbows converted to 90 degrees]
4. Real-world example
A 300mm-wide shaft leaves the 45-degree elbows poking out of the wall. Click E45to90, pick the four elbows — they tuck into square corners inside the shaft while both pipe ends stay put.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Picking changes nothing | You picked a straight pipe — pick an actual elbow fitting (a family instance) |
| Converted elbow reports a break | The elbow family lacks a 90-degree type for this DN — load it, then rerun |
| The button is nowhere to be seen | It lives inside the ElbowConvert split menu — expand the arrow to find it |
