1. Purpose
Automatically re-sorts the elevations of overlapping pipe runs layer by layer, instead of moving each pipe by hand. Use it when supply, drainage and vent runs end up stacked inside a tight ceiling.
2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)
[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]
3. Steps
- Open a 3D view or section where the overlapping runs are clearly visible. [image 01: pipe runs stacked on each other]
- Click Pipe layer in the VP_MEP tab, Plumbing panel.
- The tool re-sorts each run's elevation into its layer, keeping directions and connection points. [image 02: runs separated into elevation layers]
- Double-check in 3D: nudge by hand any pipe that still clashes. [image 03: verifying elevations after sorting]
4. Real-world example
A 500mm corridor ceiling must fit three runs — DN50 supply, DN110 drainage, DN75 vent — tangled into one bundle. Click Pipe layer — the three runs separate into three clean elevation layers, with the drain staying lowest to keep its slope.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Nothing changes after the run | Pipes are not joined into a system (open ends) — connect the run, then rerun |
| One pipe refuses to move | The pipe is pinned — unpin it, then rerun |
| Still clashing with a beam | The ceiling is too shallow for all layers — reroute one run by hand |
