1. Purpose
Pulls many pipes/fittings into line at a picked point on a plan or section — no dragging one by one. Pre-select the whole batch, pick the reference point, and the batch slides onto one straight line.
2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)
[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]
3. Steps
- Open a plan or section (the command only runs in these two view types) and pre-select the pipes/fittings to align. [image 01: several offset pipes selected]
- Click Align2D in the VP_MEP tab, Common panel.
- Pick 1 reference point on the view (snap to an Endpoint for precision) — the batch slides onto the line through that point. [image 02: picking the point and the straightened batch]
- Pick more points for further passes, or press Esc to finish.
4. Real-world example
Five basement water runs sit centimeters apart after copying. Open the plan, select all 5, run the command, pick a point on the wall edge — all 5 snap into one row in a single pick.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| "Please run this command in plan view / section." | Switch to a plan or section view first (3D and sheet views won't work) |
| "Please select valid elements." | Pre-select at least 1 MEP pipe/fitting before running |
| Pipes slide somewhere odd after picking | Enable Endpoint snap and pick exactly on the reference edge |
