1. Purpose
Tags selected pipes in bulk with one click, each tag auto-rotated along its pipe. Use it for shop drawings: dozens of runs need DN/system tags, and manual tagging is slow and crooked.
2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)
[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]
3. Steps
- On the view to tag, pre-select the pipes (you may include 1 sample tag so the tool copies its tag type). [image 01: selecting many pipes on the plan]
- Click Auto tag pipe in the VP_MEP tab, Fire fighting panel.
- In the dialog, pick the tag type, the minimum length (default 1000 mm — shorter pipes are skipped) and the maximum DN (default 100 mm — bigger pipes are skipped), then OK. [image 02: tag type and filter thresholds dialog]
- The tool places a horizontal tag at each qualifying pipe's midpoint, rotates it along the pipe, and shows a summary: how many tagged out of the total, the rest skipped by reason (short, big DN, vertical, steep, bad geometry). [image 03: tag/skip summary table]
4. Real-world example
A basement plan has 50 horizontal fire pipes DN25–DN80. Select them all, keep the defaults (longer than 1000 mm, DN up to 100), OK — tags sit neatly centered on each pipe, rotated with the run, done in half a minute.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| "Hãy chọn pipe trước khi chạy lệnh." | Select at least 1 pipe before running the command |
| "Selection hiện tại không có pipe hợp lệ." | The selection has no Pipe objects — reselect |
| "Không tìm thấy Pipe Tag Type trong model." | The project has no pipe tag family loaded — load one first |
| Vertical pipes get no tag | By design: only horizontal pipes are tagged (vertical ones are skipped) |
| Short/big-DN pipes get no tag | Lower the minimum length / raise the maximum DN in the dialog and rerun |
| Tags overlap each other | Dense pipework — nudge a few tags by hand after the batch run |

- Size the pipe by SK count — size first so tags show the right DN.
- Connect many sprinklers along a direction (ASKPipe1) — draw the runs, then tag.
