1. Purpose
Splits a branch pipe off the main: the tool auto-aligns both pipes in 3D space, then builds the branch tie-in. Use it when splitting a water branch per bathroom group off the main riser.

3. Steps
- Have the main and the future branch placed near each other in a 3D view. [image 01: main and branch placed near each other]
- Click Branch inside the Gom pulldown in the VP_MEP tab, Plumbing panel.
- When asked to pick the main pipe, click it. [image 02: picking the main pipe]
- When asked to pick the branch pipe, click it. The tool aligns both pipes, then builds the branch into the main. [image 03: the branch tied into the main]
4. Real-world example
A DN80 supply riser must split a DN40 branch per floor into each bathroom group. Click Branch, pick the riser, then pick the pre-placed DN40 segment — the tool aligns and ties the branch; repeat for 12 floors.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Esc mid-way loses everything | The command works as a pick pair — restart from the main-pipe pick |
| Pipes moved off their spots | The tool auto-aligns as a step — Undo if you dislike the new positions |
| The tied branch lands open | The branch was placed too far from the main — move it closer, then rerun |
