Combine 2 elbows 1 Y-branch (2E1Y)
Create a 2-elbow plus 1-Y-branch assembly for a pipe route.
1. Purpose
Joins a distant branch pipe into the main as one 2-elbow + 1-Y-branch assembly in a single run. Use it when the branch cannot reach the main straight and must swing around an obstacle.
2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)
[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]
3. Steps
- Open a 3D view showing both the main and the branch to join. [image 01: main and branch far apart]
- Click 2E1Y inside the Gom pulldown in the VP_MEP tab, Plumbing panel.
- When asked to pick the main pipe, click it. [image 02: picking the main pipe]
- When asked to pick the branch pipe, click it. The tool auto-aligns both pipes in 3D, then builds the 2-elbow + Y-branch assembly into the main. [image 03: the finished 2-elbow 1-branch assembly]
4. Real-world example
A DN75 branch sits 800mm from the stack with a beam in between. Click 2E1Y, pick the stack, then pick the branch — the tool aligns, swings two elbows past the beam, and ties the Y-branch into the stack in one run.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Esc mid-way loses everything | The command works as a pick pair — restart from the main-pipe pick |
| The branch moved off its spot | The tool auto-aligns as a step — Undo if you dislike the new position |
| Tough runs refuse to combine | Switch to version v1 or version v2 |
