1. Purpose
Dimensions the grid-line string running around a floor plan's outer boundary in one click, instead of picking axis pairs by hand. Use it for architectural and structural issues: a perimeter grid string is all a site needs to set out the building.

3. Steps
- Open exactly 1 floor plan (not a template) showing grid lines — or select 1 plan, then run. [image 01: floor plan with grids visible]
- Click Dim grid on floor in the VP_LAYOUT tab, Layout panel.
- In the options dialog, tick the sides to dimension and set their DIM and Bubble offsets (mm), then click OK. [image 02: grid dim options dialog]
- The tool builds a boundary from the grid ends, draws the perimeter strings, and reports — read the report and you are done. [image 03: grid strings around the plan]
4. Real-world example
A ground floor with 8 vertical + 5 horizontal axes needs a perimeter string for the building permit. Open the plan, run the command, tick all 4 sides in the dialog, OK — 4 strings hug the 4 sides in 10 seconds, perfectly even.
5. Common errors
| Symptom (tool message, Vietnamese) | Fix |
|---|---|
| "Hãy chọn đúng 1 Floor Plan hoặc mở một Floor Plan trước khi chạy lệnh." | No valid plan — open 1 non-template Floor Plan, then rerun |
| "Thông số DIM không hợp lệ." | Bad dim options — reopen the dialog and check the settings |
| "Không tìm thấy grid trong view." | Grids hidden or missing in the plan — turn grid VG back on, then rerun |
| Boundary build error from grid ends | Short or missing grid ends cannot close a boundary — extend the grids and rerun |
