1. Purpose
Detaches a wrongly joined vent branch from the system without deleting any pipe. Use it after a wrong tie-in, or when splitting a system to redraw a drain run.
2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)
[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]
3. Steps
- Open a 3D view showing the vent branch to detach. [image 01: the wrongly joined vent branch]
- Click Disconnect vent inside the vent-tools pulldown in the VP_MEP tab, Plumbing panel.
- Pick the vent branch to detach as the prompts direct — the tool removes the link while the pipes stay in place. [image 02: picking the branch to detach]
- Check the drain system: the freed end must sit open, ready for the correct tie-in. [image 03: the pipe end after disconnecting]
4. Real-world example
A floor-5 vent got tied into the floor-4 drain stack by mistake, and the system reports a closed loop. Click Disconnect vent, pick exactly that branch — the wrong link comes off, and the pipes stay put for the correct floor-5 tie-in.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Still a closed loop afterwards | Another wrong branch remains — scan the whole run and detach it too |
| Picked pipes are rejected | You picked the main drain — pick the actual vent branch |
| The button is nowhere to be seen | It lives inside the vent-tools pulldown — expand the arrow to find it |
