1. Purpose
Creates or connects a vent for a drainage run to balance pressure and stop backflow and trap-seal loss. Use it after routing floor drains, before joining the runs up to the roof.

[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]
3. Steps
- Open a 3D view showing the drain run that needs a vent. [image 01: the drain run with no vent yet]
- Click Vent inside the vent-tools pulldown in the VP_MEP tab, Plumbing panel.
- Pick the pipes in turn as the on-screen prompts direct, so the tool builds or joins the vent branch. [image 02: picking pipes for the vent]
- Verify the vent branch runs unbroken from the drain run up to the stack or the roof. [image 03: the finished vent branch]
4. Real-world example
Four bathrooms share one DN110 drain with no vent — water drains slowly and gurgles. Click Vent, pick the pipes as prompted — a DN75 vent branch ties into the stack, and the water runs quiet.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| Picked pipes are rejected | Only drain pipes take vents — check the system type |
| The vent branch lands open | The two DNs share no fitting size — check both DNs, then rerun |
| The button is nowhere to be seen | It lives inside the vent-tools pulldown — expand the arrow to find it |
