1. Purpose
Aligns viewports to the same position across many sheets, so flipping through the document set no longer jumps. Use it after laying views out: every floor plan must sit in exactly one place on every sheet.
2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)
[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]
3. Steps
- In the Project Browser, select at least 2 sheets to align (hold Ctrl for multi-select). Only real sheets align; placeholder sheets are skipped. [image 01: selected sheets in the Project Browser]
- Click Align sheets in the VP_LAYOUT tab, Sheets panel.
- In the dialog, pick 1 sheet as the reference (main sheet) plus the align style, and click OK. [image 02: reference-sheet picker dialog]
- The tool moves the viewports on the remaining sheets to the reference positions and shows a result report. Flip through the sheets to verify. [image 03: two sheets now lined up]
4. Real-world example
12 sheets for 12 floors, each viewport sitting somewhere slightly different, flipping the set feels jumpy. Select all 12, run the command, take A1-01 as reference, OK — 12 viewports share one coordinate, flipping from floor 1 to floor 12 feels smooth.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| "Select at least two sheets in Project Browser and run again" | Only 1 sheet selected — add at least one more, then rerun |
| Viewports never move despite a success report | The viewports are pinned — unpin them, then rerun |
| Two sheets still mismatch after aligning | They use different-size title blocks — switch to one size first, see Change title block type |
