1. Purpose
Copies a whole panel with all its circuits, or selected circuits, to a new location — the tool rebuilds the circuits, keeping rating, LoadName, and the exact panel schedule slots. Use it for typical floors or a new panel of the same kind.
2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)
[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]
3. Steps
- Preselect a panel or circuited elements; with nothing selected the command asks you to pick a panel or a circuited element. [image 01: picking the source panel]
- Pick an Origin point then a destination — two points in plan/elevation views, two levels (source and target) in 3D. [image 02: origin and destination picks]
- The tool copies the panel as
<Panel name>_Copy, creates a new panel schedule, and copies each circuit over (rating, LoadName, and old schedule slots preserved). [image 03: new panel and the Circuits Copied result] - Read the result: how many new panels, how many panel circuits, how many same-panel circuits were copied.
4. Real-world example
Floor 2 mirrors floor 1, with panel DB-2F feeding 6 lighting circuits. Select DB-2F, pick the origin on floor 1 and the destination on floor 2 — half a minute later there is DB-2F_Copy with all 6 circuits in the right schedule slots; just rename the panel.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| "Source Panel must have Panel Schedule" | The source panel has no schedule yet — create a panel schedule for it, then rerun |
| "New panel cannot be created from source panel ..." | Revit cannot copy the panel to that spot (blocked position/host) — pick another destination and rerun |
| "New circuit cannot be created from source circuit ..." | The source circuit dislikes the new spot (different system type) — check that circuit's system type |
| "You cannot copy in your current view. Please switch to a Plan view or an Elevation view" | The current view cannot host a copy — switch to a plan or elevation view, then rerun |
