Increment number

Quickly increase the selected sequence numbers.

Ribbon location:
VP_LAYOUT > Sheets
Command:
IncrementSN

1. Purpose

Bumps the sheet numbers of the selected sheets up one notch in a single click — the tool sorts by the sheet-number text and works from the largest string down, so a run of same-width numbers (E-101, E-102, ...) shifts without collisions. Use it when inserting new sheets mid-set: push the whole run up to free the gap.

2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)

[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]

3. Steps

  1. In the Project Browser, select the sheets to bump (hold Ctrl for many) — or select a schedule sitting on a sheet. [image 01: sheets selected in the Project Browser]
  2. Click Increment number in the VP_LAYOUT tab, Sheets panel.
  3. The tool sorts sheets by the sheet-number text (largest string first), bumps each, and reports: OK lines read "old -> new", SKIP lines carry a reason for sheets left alone. [image 02: increment result table]

4. Real-world example

The electrical set runs E-101 to E-110 and 2 new detail sheets must slot in after E-103. Select E-104 through E-110, run the command — the run slides up one notch to E-105…E-111 and frees E-104; run it again and the run moves to E-106…E-112, freeing E-105 for the second sheet, with no duplicate-number clash.

5. Common errors

Symptom (tool message, Vietnamese)Fix
"Hãy chọn sheet trên Project Browser hoặc chọn Schedule trên Sheet trước khi chạy lệnh."Nothing selected — select sheets in the Project Browser (or a schedule on a sheet), then rerun
SKIP "Không tìm thấy cụm số để dịch chuyển.", "Không thể đọc giá trị số hiện tại." or "Sheet number rỗng."The sheet number has no shiftable numeric cluster, cannot be read, or is empty — renumber that sheet by hand
FAIL line starting "FAIL:"The target number already belongs to another sheet — with mixed-width numbers (9, 10) the run can collide with itself, so renumber that sheet by hand and rerun
