Paste Excel
Paste electrical data from the clipboard onto the selected elements.
1. Purpose
Copy one electrical cluster row in Excel (as Destination#LoadName#Wire), pick one device in Revit, and E_To, E_LoadName, E_Wire land at once — no typing into Properties cell by cell. Use it once the cluster table is final in Excel.
2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)
[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]
3. Steps
- In Excel, copy one cluster row in exactly 3
#-separated parts, e.g.T3-DB1#Lobby lights#CV-3x4. [image 01: a correctly formatted 3-part Excel row] - In Revit: preselect one device (FamilyInstance), then click Paste Excel in the CircuitData pulldown, VP_MEP tab, Electrical panel — with nothing selected the command asks you to pick one element. [image 02: picking the target device]
- The tool splits the clipboard into 3 parts and assigns them to the device's E_To, E_LoadName, E_Wire. Repeat for the next row. (The 3 target parameter names are configurable in the tool's Settings.)
4. Real-world example
A final 40-row cluster table for the ground floor. Copy row 1 T0-DB1#Lobby sockets#CV-3x2.5, pick socket 1 — 3 parameters land in 5 seconds. Repeat 40 times and the floor is done, several times faster than typing.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| "Clipboard rỗng hoặc không đọc được." (clipboard empty/unreadable) | Nothing (or a picture/blank cell) was copied — recopy the text cells in Excel, then rerun |
"Clipboard cần 3 phần cách bởi '#', hiện có ..." (needs 3 # parts) | The copied row has too few/many # marks — fix it to exactly 3 parts in Excel, recopy |
| "Một trong 3 phần bị rỗng sau khi trim." (a part is blank) | One part is empty (a trailing # is the classic) — fill all 3 parts, recopy |
| "Element \<id\>: thiếu parameter ..." (missing parameter) | The target device lacks that parameter — add the shared parameter to the family, then rerun |
| "Element \<id\>: ... là read-only." (read-only) | A target parameter is locked — unlock it in the family, then rerun |
