Set the section box by two levels (Section box top/bot)
Set the section box TOP/BOT from Level and offset in mm.
1. Purpose
Cuts a 3D view to exactly one or a few floors by picking the top (TOP) and bottom (BOT) levels plus mm offsets — instead of hand-dragging 6 box faces by guesswork. The tool remembers the last pick, so cutting the next floors is fast.
2. Quick video (≤ 2 minutes)
[Video in production — follow the steps below for now.]
3. Steps
- Open a 3D view (the command only runs on View3D). [image 01: solid 3D view awaiting its floor cut]
- Click Section box top/bot inside Section box in the VP_MEP tab, View panel.
- In the dialog, pick the Level for the TOP face and the Level for the BOT face, type per-side offsets in mm if needed (e.g. BOT minus 500 mm to catch the slab), then OK. [image 02: TOP/BOT level picker plus mm offsets]
- The box hugs exactly the chosen floor range — orbit freely with no other floors in the way. [image 03: 3D view holding one floor after the cut]
4. Real-world example
A 3D snapshot of floor 7's pipework is needed for a report. Open a 3D view, run the command, pick TOP = level 8, BOT = level 7 minus 300 mm — the box holds floor 7 alone, a clean shot with no floor 6 or 8.
5. Common errors
| Symptom | Fix |
|---|---|
| "Chỉ hỗ trợ View3D." | Switch to a 3D view first (plans/sheets won't work) |
| "Project không có Level." | The file has no storey levels yet — create Levels first |
| "Không đọc được TOP/BOT Level đã chọn." | Re-pick both levels in the dialog |
| Top must exceed bottom, still complained | Reorder so TOP sits above BOT (offsets included) |
